Recruitment and Trial Membership
or, How I Got Into DTJ and Survived My First Five Weeks.
Getting into DTJ is a fairly straight-forward process. We break it up into five stages, and try to keep things as clear and concise as possible. We recognize that many people from all walks of life may have interest in our little operation, but we want to ensure that we are able to keep the spirit and drive of the guild intact with everyone we bring on board. As such, we have developed this very simple process.
Your best bet to getting into DTJ is to start by getting to know some members. Try to get into any 5-man runs that we are running. Get to know the members of the guild. The more we know you before you apply, the better chances you have of getting into the guild. We are evaluating you on three fronts: your personality, your gaming skills, and your character's class, spec and gear.
Stage One: The Application
We have a very simple online application for you to fill out. This gives us a starting point to evaluating your character and finding out a little about you. We offer two options for this application. If you choose to leave your application public, then anyone is able to view and post a comment to your application. You may or may not like what you read, but you are also given the opportunity to reply to any comments or questions. If you decide to keep your application private, then we hide it so only the raiding members of the guild are able to view your application. This keeps it hidden away (for whatever reason you may have), but you are unable to view any questions or comments on your application. It is entirely your call.
Stage Two: Getting to Know You
Within forty-eight (48) hours of you applying, a member of our Recruitment Team (headed by our Director of Recruitment) will contact you and schedule an interview. These are meant to assist us in getting to know you better. Whomever handled the interview will post their feedback in the thread with your application. If everything went well, we will proceed to the next stage.
Stage Three: Testing Your Skills
At this point, we will take you on either a challenging five-player or ten-player instance. Based on your character's role and gear level, we will be stacking this run to test your abilities. Easy runs do not help to show us what you can do, so we try to make it a challenge and attempt to push you to your limit. There will be at least one Veteran Raider, Officer or member of the Recruitment Team on this run to evaluate your abilities.
Stage Four: Trial Membership
If there are positive reviews on your application from the interview and testing run, and no negatives from existing members, then we will pass you a guild invite on a Trial basis. This enables you to interact with the guild and run raiding instances with us. This is a four-week trial period. If, at the end of your term, the guild agrees that you would be an asset to the guild, then you will advance to the final stage. If we find you lacking, then we will bid you farewell.
Stage Five: Bitch Week
In an effort to both relieve some work from the officers, and to give you a glimpse into the inner workings of the guild, you will have a week of administrative duty that you will need to perform. This may include updating the attendance and looting application, cleaning up expired threads on the forums, or performing other out-of-game website maintainance.
Welcome to the Guild
If you survive these five simple stages, then you will be promoted to Raiding Member. At this point, you will be fully eligible for loot and have earned yourself a regular spot in raids.
